Q. What are the benefits of outsourcing medical billing?
A: Outsourcing billing is an effective way of using our collective expertise in billing, which will save you time and money. We are only paid as a percentage of what you get paid.
Q. What is the fee for our billing service? Is there a registration fee?
A: Our fee for service is minimal compared to your financial and time savings. We are paid a small percentage based off of the total amount you receive. We will be happy to go over those rates with you during our initial call. There is no registration or set-up fee. We do not charge the businesses we serve for the time it takes us to get set up with your payers. This does not include credentialing. Grand Canyon Billing, Inc. does NOT provide credentialing services.
Q. We are happy with our current billing methods, but would love to learn new strategies on how to become more profitable. Do you offer billing consultations for therapy providers?
A: We do. Although our primary focus is to provide you with a great billing service, we understand if you are not ready to change your current billing methods. We do provide a thorough examination of your current processes and will provide insight and strategies to dramatically increase your revenue. Our fee for this service is $100 per hour, with a 3 hour minimum commitment. This is a minimal fee in comparison to your annual increase.
Q. Do we need to commit for any contract period or any minimum quantity of billing?
A: You can terminate the agreement for any reason by providing a 90 days notice period. You can use our service on a needs basis. No monthly volume commitment is expected. We are confident in our services and customer support that we feel you will be completely satisfied.
Q. How can I submit my billing?
A: We will discuss and determine this after our initial call. We will make the process seamless for you
Q: What type of insurances (payers) do you submit?
A: Grand Canyon Billing will submit to a variety of payers.
Q: Do I need to be a participating provider to submit claims to an insurance carrier?
A: No, as long as you have an authorization to provide services for each patient you will be able to receive payment for each session. However, this is different with BCBS of AZ. It is imperative that you get your agency contracted and your therapists credentialed with BCBS of AZ PRIOR to seeing their patients.
Q: How does electronic billing help me?
A: Grand Canyon Billing submits claims electronically when available. By submitting electronically, we are able to verify that the payer has received and accepted the claim within one business day. It also reduces the amount of billing errors normally seen with paper claims since it reduces the amount of human interaction.
Q: How will I know that the transmission of patient info will be secure?
A: Grand Canyon Billing maintains HIPAA compliance for all patient transmissions. All claims are billed electronically using the ANSI 837P format. For claims sent to the State of Arizona, electronic files are submitted via a secured FTP.
Q: When do I get charged for the services I receive?
A: You will receive a monthly invoice (near the 10th of the month) for payments that you received for the previous month.
Q: What happens if a claim gets denied? Do you charge me twice?
A: You are only charged on payments that you receive, so you are not charged for multiple submissions, no matter if the error was on your part. If a claim gets denied, we will work with you to provide the required information to the payer.
Q: Do you charge me for private (non-DDD) self-pay patients?
A: If Grand Canyon Billing generates the claim to send to your self-pay patients, we will charge our fee for service on the collected payments.
Q: How soon can I expect to get reimbursed by insurance companies?
A: Once you start working with Grand Canyon Billing, you can except to receive payments from Payors within a month. We will work with each payer to ensure that each transaction is submitted correctly.
Q: How do you know when I receive a payment?
A: For most payers, Grand Canyon Billing has access to verify claim status online. Once you receive a Payment and/or Explanation of Benefits (EOB) from the payer, you will fax those pages to our office.
Q: Will I get a summary of received payments?
A: You will receive a monthly report of all paid claims.
Q: How often will I have to meet with you in person?
A: At Grand Canyon Billing, we believe in excellent customer service. We will meet with you as many times as needed. At the beginning of the relationship, we may need to meet with you a couple times to verify that everything is going smoothly.
Q: What type of software do I need to review the reports?
A: All reports are generated in either an Adobe PDF file or Microsoft Excel file.
